Netgear CM1100 Docsis 3.1 - Doesn't meet speed qualification?

$

Interesting scenario. I'm on the Ultra 400 package - recently acquired the new CM1100 from Netgear ($140 costco online). Tried to activate it twice now - each time getting errors. Called in - spoke to like four different people... whom the last person finally says she "spoke to her leader" and the CM1100 doesn't meet the speed qualifications for the Ultra 400 package, and that's why it won't activate. I know it's only on the "minimally qualified" list, but it seems silly that Spectrum doesn't see this modem as "fast enough" for the Ultra 400 package (assuming their reply wasn't just a cop-out answer at that point). All else fails - I'll just return it... but it's being advertised by Netgear, Costco, etc. as being OK'd for Spectrum. And any D3.1 modem should be approved for every speed tier imaginable at this point. If anyone has any suggestions for help getting it activated - I'm all ears. I do have one of their Hitron provided D3.1 modems, but just like to use my own in most cases... especially now that the signals are locked out. Thanks in advance!

[HSI] Spectrum Gig - Post your experiences here

Let's reserve this thread for only folks who are ordering/have ordered/have installed the new 940x35 tier, served over DOCSIS 3.1. Include location, modem provided, pricing, speed/latency/signal details, etc. To be fair, I'm starting this one a little early. City: Austin, TX (NW) Price: $124.99/mo + tax, $199.99 install fee (no discounts) Confirmed on Twitter earlier today that Gig was available here, then had a 9am Thursday appointment one 8 minute, 54 second call later (no initial hold time for sales). No discounts because I can't exactly pretend I'll switch to AT&T; their service is 5 Mbps here. Will be interesting to see what modem/gateway the tech brings. EDIT: Got email confirmation of the appointment. Looks like it's Wednesday at 1pm now. I'm not complaining :) EDIT 12/20 2p: Tech shows up at 1:51pm. Technicolor modem, same as in Hawaii. No branding on the router, which is an 11ac Wave 2 device with one WAN port (the modem has two LAN ports). Tech is on the phone with dispatch to get the router and modem activated. EDIT 12/22 2:40a: I can't stress enough how good the provided router is (made by Askey), particularly on the WiFi side. I just topped out at over 750 Mbps on my 2013-vintage MacBook Pro...over WiFi. It has a 3x3 11ac radio from Atheros (now QCA). My nearly-brand-new work laptop, which only has a 2x2 radio, was still able to hit 500+ Mbps. Also, I just tested ports 22, 80, 443, and 5900. None of them are blocked.

Arris 6 Tuner DVR failing to Record a scheduled program....

New Service; 6 weeks old. Requested and got an Arris 6 Tuner DVR. Last 2 weeks I have discovered 2 scheduled shows did not Record. The shows were of course in the Recorded List...but when I went to play them...I got nothing but a Black Screen. When the s shows that didn't record were scheduled to record, I would have been watching normal TV, or, watching another recorded show and, 2 or 3 shows would have been scheduled to record, the point being, no more than 4 Tuners would have been needed. As a test to see if all tuners are working, I went to the guide, selected 6 shows to record (not scheduled\just pressed RECORD). All 6 shows recorded...so all tuners are working. Anyone else finding their 6 Turner DVR showing a scheduled show was recorded but when playing it back...nothing had been recorded?

QAMs being cleared, likely for 32 DS channels in NE Ohio

I noticed in Spectrum Analyzer that ~579-603 and 615-627 MHz have been cleared in recent weeks. I didn’t check if those are the exact channel alignments, but it’s a total of about 36 MHz, which is room for 6 DOCSIS DS channels. If those two channels around 603-615 are taken down, that would be a perfect contiguous block of 8 DOCSIS channels right before the 24 existing ones. Looks to me like 32x4 is coming soon.

New York State votes to throw Charter Spectrum out

per: https://twitter.com/stopthecap breaking news New York State votes unanimously to throw Charter Spectrum out of the state the cable company has been ordered to begin transition plans immediately to discontinued operations in New York A stunning vote by NY PSC today. I am out of the office now but listened to hearing. Vote is clear. Charter cannot continue providing service in New York, but there will be lawsuits galore. Charter also fined an additional $1 million dollars by NY PSC. They have clearly had it. Now the next mission will be to keep Comcast from replacing them.

hi group, i just upgraded to spectrum ultra 400 d and 20 up. with my iPhone 6s and iPad pro i get the full 400 download and 20 with 5g. when i try it on 2g i only get 100d and still 20up. is this normal? i have two ring cams that only run 2g but my other things use 5g. i am happy with the 5g performance . is this normal for 2g to be that much slower?

[HSI] Business - Copper or Fiber

Howdy - We currently have 4Mb service through TPX (formerly Telepacific) and are looking to move to Charter/Spectrum for our business. We've received quotes for 25Mbps fiber @ $449/mo and 1Gbpsx35Mbps copper @ $249/mo and I'm trying to decide if fiber is truly worth 2x the price. The majority of our use-case will be RDP sessions and scanned-document uploads via RDP. (Right now I have to disable all windows updates because when they run on even a single computer during the day, it eats the entire 4Mbps pipe). Thanks!

This is my experience so far: Activation was totally screwed up, because I attempted it after midnight. That took a refresh with telephone CSR, after hours of "retrieving channel info" message and more restarts than I can count. Bravo HD is still an east coast feed, while Bravo SD is a west coast feed. CSR said they are working on it... that was on Friday. "Watchlist" on the guide does not work. You save a show from the on-demand menu, exit the guide/menu, come back and your Watchlist is empty. DVR recording is out of whack. There is a daily network show I want to record, that won't let me record. It shows as already scheduled for the series, but is not recording it, and if I try to delete the show and start over, I get error codes. I have pushed the reset button more than a few times. There have been at least 2 refreshes sent from Spectrum. The shining light is the internet. Always more than 400 down and at least 20 up since they responded to my service call (within an hour). I love their customer service but their TV service is really seeming sketchy.

Spectrum GiG - IP hasn't changed for almost a year causing probs

-AREA: So. California / Orange County -SERVICE: Spectrum -SPEED: $120 month Gig (900mbps dl 40mbps up) -MODEM: "Technicolor E31T2V1" (Spectrum Owned Equip) -ROUTER: "Netgear Nighthawk(R) X4S R7800 (My owned router) Hey guys, I signed up for Spectrum's GIG plan almost a year ago switching from the 400mbps plan. I have had the same IP address since I was put on the gig plan. SINCE DAY 1... a lot of websites I go to will say "Our system has detected abnormal activity from your ip address **.***.***.***" and I have to do CAPTCHA's every time. I also couldn't even sign in on a couple gaming platforms I use because the IP was already banned. I did get those straightened out after providing proof of my bill. It's super annoying to deal with this. I've called Spectrum MANY times and they always give me a date and time when it will change but never does. They also say they have absolutely no way whatsoever to change it and it's not their problem. I've tried everything I can think of and have read through the forums to change/force IP change but to no avail. Does anyone know if I take my modem into the store and exchange it for a new one.... will that force an IP change? Thanks for any help! It is much appreciated.

Post Your Outdated Channel Guide Issues

Everyone, We all know that Spectrum is very lazy in terms of updating the channel guides. Here are some of the things in the Orlando guide that are outdated. Channels That Have Switched Names - 55-1359 Lifetime Movie Network is now Lifetime Movies - 230/1109 Sprout is now Universal Kids - 834 One World Sports is now Eleven Sports. The change happened 10 months ago. Note: They are correct logos and everything if you go to the on demand menu. Should Be Taken Out of Guide - 1372 Universal HD is still in the guide despite shutting down over 6 months ago. - 1831-1835 Extra Time HD channels (These were for the Premier League that have since Shutdown) Surprised they are not branded I am surprised they have not gotten around to branding Spectrum ahead of News 13 and Bay News 9 in the guide. They did change Spike to Paramount and Centric to BET Her probably because they noticed it due to the package changes. In addition, it took a while but they removed Sportsman Channel from the guide weeks/months after they pulled it. This just shows how lazy they can be. Please feel free to post your outdated Channel Guide Issues.

Customer service resetting your modem to stop online chat

Happened twice now. After using the chat online tool with spectrum customer service, I have realized they are resetting my cable modem to interrupt our chat session as a result of getting knocked offline for 5 minutes or so. When I reconnect with someone in chat it is a different person. Which is result they are looking for. Although it is very clever, its terrible customer service. I'm sure most non-tech savvy people have no idea. Just wanted to let someone at Spectrum know this is going on in their customer service departments. Might want to do an audit to see how often this happens.

[Telephone] Issues with Spectrum VOIP

Has anyone else been having issues with incoming and outgoing calls in the Tampa FL area with Spectrum? I have a business VOIP line that seems to be having routing issues with 2 of the 4 lines. The problem is that incoming calls will continuously ring without getting to the MTA, and outgoing calls will simply fast busy dial tone. Spectrum tech said this has been going on county wide for the last 5 months.

[TWC] Arris DVR

I currently have a Arris DVR it was swapped out by Spectrum from a Technocolor 6 tuner recently. Our area has ODN / MON Guide. Questioning if you try to scroll say 10 to 15 channels up or down. Why does everything go blank within the guide? On the Technocolor you could hold the button and everything within the guide would load as it was scrolling but that's not happening on this Arris DCX 3600-M Everything goes gray no data shown if you try to scroll. Is that a software issue that the data within the guide goes blank or an issue with the DVR?

Odd Spectrum App Question

$

I'm a little embarrassed to ask this, since I know a lot of folks use the Spectrum app and I've never seen anyone ask or complain about this issue, but please bear with me, as for the life of me I can't figure this out. Bought a brand new Sharp Roku TV (our second, but the first is hooked to our DVR so we don't use the app) and decided to try the Spectrum app instead of STB, returning our second STB to save money. The app works fine on the new TV except (and here is where I'm pretty sure someone's gonna call me a clueless newbie :)) since I can't use the old STB remote to change channels, and Roku TV's remote doesn't let you change channels within this app, I have to go to the guide and find the channel I want. With 1000 channels (well, you know what I mean), that's not doable, and yes, I set a bunch of favorites, but unlike normal Spectrum service, the app's guide doesn't let you somehow skip by favs but still see all the channels. You have to choose to filter for favs (which narrows the choices nicely, but means I can't choose something on a neighboring channel; it ONLY shows favs) or filter for all channels, in which case I have to scroll for an eternity to get to channel 180, never mind music choice at 1973 or something :). Is there any way to actually input a channel to skip quickly in the guide using the app and the roku remote? Or is there another remote that the app would actually respond to (I still have the old STB's remote and wouldn't mind buying a new remote if it worked)? Again, I'm thinking I'm missing something obvious and basic... Or am I the only one bothered by this?

Every time I have an internet outage in my area, my cellular connection also drops. This has happened 4x. I called Sprint. I asked them if they shared lines with Spectrum. The representative told me they shared towers. Can someone explain?

[CATV] Spectrum policy on relocating?

$

I have Spectrum CATV and Internet, and use their modem and DVR. I will be relocating between New York and N. Carolina every 6 months, back and forth. Question: How to handle my equipment and account. One choice is to simply cancel my acct every 6 months as I move from one location, then sign up at the other place. (Every 6 months a new account.) Or..... could I just take the equipment with me and somehow just keep the same account alive? Or is there some other option? Just want to ask the group here since answers from Spectrum reps will likely be varied. Thanks.

[CATV] Added Silver TV to Ultra HSI (good deal or not???)

Had the Ultra 400/20 internet only for $44.99 (2 years). I added the SILVER TV plan bundled with my existing internet for $99.99 (2 years price lock) + $2 cable card fee, $12 broadcast fee and local taxes. Total is about $117 for Ultra internet + Silver TV per month. Is this a good deal it is there a better promo with Ultra and Silver package?
