[HSI] Semi-rant, modem and call to support.

OK, I've been having constant TOD updates and DHCP lease renewals for about 6 months. Going on 3rd modem (and eMTA) with support in CFL. Have had individual modem and eMTA that was replaced due to the 2 hour IP lease with combined units, Ubee and Arris over the time. Calls over that period resulted in 4 or 5 truck rolls (and another to happen today). 'Problems' have been found: - Original Surfboard (SB610xx I recall) and individual eMTA were 'old' and not supported and replaced with the Ubee. - Lease renewal and errors in the modem log not fixed. - Lines checked. Cable to modem replaced as was all connectors. Problem not fixed. - Line Tap found to be bad, replaced, not fixed. - Outside connectors at the box and at the house bad and replaced, as well as the ground block, problem not fixed. I've lived with the 2 hour lease but now the modem is rebooting often. Lucky if it stays up a week without doing this. I can see it happen in my router log: ============ [Time synchronized with NTP server] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:41 [Internet connected] IP address: 67.8.xx.xx, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:40 [Internet disconnected] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:36 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:19 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:09 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:33:49 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:33:38 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:33:28 [Internet disconnected] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:32:44 [Time synchronized with NTP server] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:14:45 [Internet connected] IP address: 67.8.xx.xx, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:14:44 ============ Modem log shows similar data: Hmm, can't reach 192.168.100.1 now? I think they might have locked me out? Very odd but I was able to see it this morning when I called? Agent did see it and the errors as well? Agreed this was NOT normal. What is going on here?

Gigabit live April 7th. Hickory, NC. Chtr Tech. says it's troubl

Had a tech at my house today who basically said my speed issues were from the upgrades being done and they've got the entire infrastructure screwed up right now. Basically checked signals, connectors and said there was nothing he could do about it. He also said he doesn't recommend upgrading to gig bc if I'm having speed issues now, gig will be a bigger head ache. I have 100/10 most of the time I run consistent at 112/11.5 but past week it's been dropping packets do speeds at 20's and been issued a IP from over 100 miles away. When before my ips always registered within 5-10 miles. This is insane, why are they upgrading and messing up everything? Just leave it alone , especially when you're only offering 35-40 mgbit upload....

[Other] Chater/spectrum modem reboot issues.

Good morning! New here, and this is my first post, but I'm hoping someone here can give me a little guidance. I recently moved into a new condo and yesterday I decided to have internet installed at my place. I went with the 300mb/s package. So, a tech came out and setup a modem. Everything worked great. Did a speed test and received 302 down and 21 up. Decided to go buy a router. Now this is where things get weird. When I plug my router in and connect it to the modem, via cat6 cable, the modem gets thrown into a boot loop. The three blue lights ( power, us/ds, online) will blink one by one then go solid for a few mins then reset in a endless loop. If I unplug my router the modem will stop rebooting and work properly. Any idea what could be going on? Why no Spectrum Streaming App on Apple TV?

I have searched around but cannot find a definitive answer as to why the Spectrum streaming app is on Roku and not Apple TV. There is an app for iPad, and iPhone. So there must be a legal, rather than technological reason, as to why it is not available. Does anyone know? Link to source?

Recently swapped a old SB6121 for a new SB6183 bought from local big box store. Called in, got it activated, and of course, things got slower. Going home tonight for a serious "eliminate other issues" (router, switch, cables, etc) session before calling support, but I suspect the new modem did not get configured right. Is there any info from the SB6183 that would indicate an incorrect config? Yes, I have internet, but speed test results have dropped to 18-22Mbps average.

First of all, I have found the wealth of information on this site to be amazing and I am glad to be part of the community. With that being said, I was looking for some insight. Today, I swapped out a Netgear CM600 for a new Arris SB8200. There was no issue with the CM600, I just thought for a few bucks more, I could get a modem that was a bit more future proof. I was within the 30-day return period for my CM600. During activation, the Spectrum rep gave me a hard time about activating the device. Every other time I called, all they asked for was the MAC address. Anyway, begrudgingly, she activated it and said she was activating it as a Docsis 3.0 modem since no 3.1 modems are approved at this time. Everything is working fine, speeds are great and no latency to speak of. However, a couple of things bug me. 1. The system time for the modem is 7 hours off. It is currently 7:27 PM, April 2, but the system time on the modem is 2:27 AM, April 3. Any ideas if this is fixable? 2. The blue downstream light is on indicating DOCSIS 3.1 bonding, but in the status screen it shows channel 33 as unlocked. I have seen other activations where the channel is actually locked. Should I even worry about this? FYI, legacy TWC in Ventura County, CA. I attached a screen shot of the status screen for anyone willing to review. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Just checked the TWC website and noticed something strange. The max speed was listed "up to 60" (50 was the previous). I called one of the call centers and got switched to 60 at a discounted rate. I also have the option (according to the CSR) to switch to 300 for 89.96 per month, a tech roll and a 199 install fee.

Extremely spotty internet today.

Anyone been having any issues with Charter? Started about 3 hours ago for me and been doing it every since. Internet will be fine at full speeds for a minute then all of a sudden dl/upload speeds will be horrible even to the point of sitting at 0 giving me obvious server not found errors. Then it goes back to normal then back to bad again. Checked outage maps doesn't seem to be big reports in my area. Called no information on an outage. Checked my signal levels everything is great. Not sure what's going on but it's extremely annoying.

Any word on when Central Florida will get gig service

[HSI] Charter blocking RDP outbound on customer owned modem?

So, i moved from the Charter provider Puma 6 modem to my SB6183. Suddenly lost ability to RDP out. I have an OOB server at work (no firewalling really just FTP, SSH and RDP allowed). Well on my own modem RDP no longer connects. I can SSH and FTP in so its not a connectivity issue. I plugged the modem directly into my PC and still cannot RDP out. I tether to my iphone..RDP work. Support pretty much refuses to look at it since its a customer owned modem. if Charter had anything that wasn't Puma 6 I would be happy to use theirs. They have a BCOM all in own but ever power cycle it kicks to NAT and wifi (which I don't want or need)

Had the pleasure to speak with a tech today at work, regarding the Columbus, OH area becoming 100% Digital. Currently, they are working on the Western part of Columbus, aka Legacy TWC, with the goal of having them done by the end of May. Then they will start on the eastern part of Columbus, aka Legacy Insight, and hope to have that completed by end of July. With the overall goal of Columbus being fully digital by August, with rumors of getting 1Gig by 2020. Once were 100% digital, they can then start the D3.1 stuff. As always YMMV as this was a tech, tho he sounded VERY knowledgeable since he was on a Biz Class install.

charter outgoing email on blacklist

I just started getting emails rejected by recipients, saying that the IP was blacklisted for spam. It seems that at least some of Charter's SMTP servers (68.114.190.29 -- 31) have been blacklisted by three different blacklist monitors, sorbs, uceprotect and ZapBL. This is not saying MY IP address is the spam source, it is saying Charter's SMTP servers are the cause. This could be affecting thousands of Charter customers. I have reported this to Charter, but have not heard anything. I have had to start sending my outgoing emails through gmail, which I CERTAINLY should not have to do, since I am PAYING Charter big $ for a business account. This first started with SourceForge, but I suspect other places will start rejecting emails soon. Jon

Remote Changes to Modem

Can Charter or I suppose time Warner?? do a remote change to the cable modem to put it into a bridged mode? We have a remote site that has TW and an edge router which is currently getting the IP as a DHCP for the WAN however the modem is giving it a 192.168.0.x address is there a way for them to change this to bridge it so it gives the DHCP address to the edge router for the WAN IP as we won't have access to the site for a week. I could then set the edge router to reboot 5 minutes or so after I issue the command and they have the modem switch to a bridged mode
