I recently had some issues w/ Charter Internet that the connection was so bad after 8:30PM. As a result, I've called Charter Service Center to diagnose the issue. One particular night, the service center's said the connection was so bad toward my end, so she said she will schedule a maintenance person to check at my residence. Standard routine that if the problem is at my equipment then I have to pay etc.
The maintenance tech came over & checked everything but he couldn't find anything wrong on my end and he suspected that oversubcription in my area is the issue so the best he could do is to put my modem on monitor list
Weeks later, my statement included $45 service charge. I called the billing dept and you can tell from the voice of the person who tried to explain why they charged me $45 for no reason. A lot of um, uh, ah & nothing connected to nothing and he tried to sell me Charter maintenance service contract. I'm very polite about understanding that he's just an employee trying to do his job in a sleazy company so I request to waive the charge. Just another story of Charter sleazy billing dept, hoping to catch subscriber off guard if they are in autopay. I do check my bill even at autopay but now I canceled mine afterward, to prevent my laziness might cause me sometimes in the future.
