Spectrum basic TV unavailable? Want to add internet separately

My grandparents have had basic cable TV since ever (New York, NY - previously Time Warner Cable) and only for 1 channel - NYC World - I bought a HDTV and antenna to try to cut the cord, but can't find that channel, so it kills me inside. For now, it's a given that we have to keep basic TV, and I don't want to buy anything more than that. I'm trying to add internet only, basically a la carte. The thing is, it's only when we come to visit for a week or two a year, I want to just buy internet and cancel when I'm done. Our phones can keep up, but we don't particularly enjoy burning through our entire T-Mobile data stashes (and tethering is a bit of a struggle). However, all of the Spectrum CSRs say that we have to convert our legacy (Time Warner) TV plan to a Spectrum plan, which is fine, except they supposedly "don't have" a basic plan on Spectrum, which I call BS on because it's listed right on their rate card (https://www.spectrum.com/browse/content/ratecard.html). The price is also exactly the price that we're paying Spectrum right now, as opposed to the Time Warner rate card (https://www.spectrum.com/content/dam/spectrum/residential/en/pdfs/ratecards/NYC/NY_Brooklyn_7001-RC.pdf). They're all trying to get me to sign up for Spectrum Select TV (basically the lowest tier including sports and stuff) regardless of whether or not I'm bundling internet. Is there any way to convert to the $23.89/month Spectrum "basic service" TV? It's silly that they're preventing me from paying them money for internet.

[HSI] IPv6 Prefix Assigned but no Connectivity?

I recently moved out to rural TN after being a part of comcast's early D3.1 trials and got stuck with Spectrum. I believe this is a legacy Charter area and they gave me a free Ultra 300 upgrade, but one thing that bothers me is the lack of IPv6. I enabled IPv6 and set up a DHCPv6 client in my Mikrotik HAP AC and I receive a /64 prefix from the charter spectrum range, 2600:6c5d, and began advertising it on my local network. However, the only address I can reach outside my local network is 2001:506:100:5c7e::1. Anything after that is dropped and I have 0 connectivity for IPv6. Current setup is Arris SB8200 -> HAP AC -> Devices In the modem, all I see is: Notice(6) "Overriding MDD IP initialization parameters; IP provisioning mode = IPv4" A traceroute to google looks like this: 1Tracing route to ipv6.l.google.com [2607:f8b0:4002:c06::8a]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 2600-6c5d-(Removed)-0000-0000-0000-0000.dhcp6.chtrptr.net [2600:6c5d:(removed)] 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 10 ms 10 ms 9 ms 2001:506:100:5c7e::1 4 * * * Request timed out. 5 * * * Request timed out. 6 * * * Request timed out. If you contact us, please provide this error code: WUC-1002" Spent over 1 hr with support to be told this is a problem that is trending ..... Anyone else have this same problem or is it area related ?

Anyone been having any issues with Charter? Started about 3 hours ago for me and been doing it every since. Internet will be fine at full speeds for a minute then all of a sudden dl/upload speeds will be horrible even to the point of sitting at 0 giving me obvious server not found errors. Then it goes back to normal then back to bad again. Checked outage maps doesn't seem to be big reports in my area. Called no information on an outage. Checked my signal levels everything is great. Not sure what's going on but it's extremely annoying.

I did a little forum searching, but couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. I was wondering if Spectrum has rolled out 24/32 channels or DOCSIS 3.1 in my area. I live in NW Ohio, specifically Lima, Ohio, and was told on another forum that you were the guys to ask about that.

The other day my SB8200 went out for area upgrades for about an hour. Today when I happened to walk in to my area where my modem was I noticed my Downstream light was finally Blue indicating DOCSIS 3.1 Downstream Bonding. It has been green for the past year or so. This is a good sign of the Gig service coming to the area as I have been told by the reps as well.

[CATV] Spectrum Cisco 271HD Boxes

This week (Sunday) I installed 2 Cisco 271HD boxes all went fine until Thursday. On Thursday both boxes would switch to channel 1 (Spectrum News) randomly but at the same time. So I contacted Spectrum, they informed me it was an issue in my area and it was being fixed. They said all my equipment signals looked great and was not an inside issue. They informed me they would call me back when the problem was fixed which they did and the boxes stopped switching to channel 1. Now it's Saturday and they are doing it again!! Is this a known issue with these boxes? If so what do you recommend? FYI Roku is not an option due to their timeout issue in the Spectrum App plus it uses up my bandwidth. My one Arris HD DCX3200-M P3 box does not do this but it cost twice as much to lease each month.

[Upgrades] [Internet] Any downsides to switching from a TWC legacy account?

$

I’m an Internet only customer, and I’ve stayed on the TWC legacy plan to avoid higher prices. This month, my bill went up $5 to $64.99. One year ago, my promo price of $49.99 expired, and like many others I had no luck at all in convincing them to renew it. My bill says I have “Extreme Internet”. Today I found a Spectrum rate card for my address (I’m in Louisville) and I see that 60 / 5 and 100 / 10 are priced identically for month to month rates at $64.99 with no bundling. SPECTRUM STANDARD SERVICE OFFERINGS (MONTH-TO-MONTH PLAN) Spectrum Internet 60/5 $64.99 Spectrum Internet 60/5 with Spectrum TV $54.99 Spectrum Internet 60/5 with WiFi $69.99 Spectrum Internet 100/10 $64.99 Spectrum Internet 100/10 with Spectrum TV $54.99 Spectrum Internet 100/10 with WiFi $69.99 Spectrum Internet Ultra 300/20 $89.99 Spectrum Internet Ultra 300/20 with Spectrum TV $79.99 Spectrum Internet Assist 30/4 ** $14.99 Spectrum Internet Assist 30/4 with WiFi ** $19.99 I’m currently getting 70 / 5.8 on speedtest.net, so with the usual over provisioning I’m on 60 / 5. My hardware is a Netgear CM500 modem (I own it), with a Asus RT-AC56U router, connected by wired cat 5e ethernet to a Dell desktop. So I don’t think I’m hardware limited. I’ve read on this forum that if you switch from a legacy TWC account, there is no going back. To keep my lower price, I have stayed on the TWC legacy plan. That price advantage seems to be gone. If I have to pay $64.99, for the same money obviously I rather get 100 / 10 than 60 / 5. Are there any downsides to switching to 100 / 10? Is there typically an upgrade fee? Or monthly add on fees that makes the actual monthly cost more than $64.99?

Considering getting Spectrum.. are SB8200's working?

$

Well, I'm considering switching to Spectrum from Windstream, and I wanted to ask a few questions... 1) Is the SB8200 working? Or the Netgear CM600/CM1000? 2) What should I expect if I do decide to get spectrum? I will need a new cable run from the ground block to the apartment. Also, can you all PLEASE resassure my mother that it won't touch her TV? (Long story short she thinks when I get spectrum hooked up they need to put her TV on the line and she doesn't want that, she's old.)

[HSI] Semi-rant, modem and call to support.

OK, I've been having constant TOD updates and DHCP lease renewals for about 6 months. Going on 3rd modem (and eMTA) with support in CFL. Have had individual modem and eMTA that was replaced due to the 2 hour IP lease with combined units, Ubee and Arris over the time. Calls over that period resulted in 4 or 5 truck rolls (and another to happen today). 'Problems' have been found: - Original Surfboard (SB610xx I recall) and individual eMTA were 'old' and not supported and replaced with the Ubee. - Lease renewal and errors in the modem log not fixed. - Lines checked. Cable to modem replaced as was all connectors. Problem not fixed. - Line Tap found to be bad, replaced, not fixed. - Outside connectors at the box and at the house bad and replaced, as well as the ground block, problem not fixed. I've lived with the 2 hour lease but now the modem is rebooting often. Lucky if it stays up a week without doing this. I can see it happen in my router log: ============ [Time synchronized with NTP server] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:41 [Internet connected] IP address: 67.8.xx.xx, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:40 [Internet disconnected] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:36 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:19 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:34:09 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:33:49 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:33:38 [Internet connected] IP address: 192.168.100.20, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:33:28 [Internet disconnected] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:32:44 [Time synchronized with NTP server] Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:14:45 [Internet connected] IP address: 67.8.xx.xx, Tuesday, Feb 20,2018 15:14:44 ============ Modem log shows similar data: Hmm, can't reach 192.168.100.1 now? [TWC] Still disconnecting drops after service canceled?

Now that they have ended clear QAM and analog NTSC entirely, is Spectrum (TWC) physically disconnecting drops? If not, is this a matter of policy, or just because nobody else needs my port right now? I called ahead to have my internet-only service disconnected on 23 March. The modem lost authorization sometime on the 24th, right on schedule. But, judging by the spectrum analyzer, my drop is still connected today, a couple of weeks later.

[CATV] CableCard Pairing Frustration

$

I am hoping someone can give me some guidance. I have been successfully using a multistream CableCard and Cisco DTA with a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime for at least 5 years. Unfortunately, the network port on the HDHomeRun Prime was taken out by a lightning strike last week. I purchased a new HDHomeRun Prime and was trying to set it up today. I called into Spectrum support to have them pair the CableCard with the HardwareID from the new Prime so that it would validate for digital tuning. The technical support person was totally clueless on what I was asking them to do and became fixated on the fact that the Prime is a device not provided by Spectrum. It was incredibly frustrating and I gave up after roughly ten minutes. She would not escalate to anyone with a clue either despite repeated requests. Anyone have a suggestion on how to get to technical support that is familiar with CableCard activation on user provided devices such as HDHomeRun Primes, Tivos etc? TIA

[Speed Issues] Charter speed increase

I was paying for 110 but 2 days ago started getting about 200. When I called charter and asked they said I am on the 110 and I am only getting more because I own my own modem(netgear c7800). Everyone else is still getting 110. I asked them if they had any faster speeds and she said there is 300 for an additional $25.00 a month. This would very soon go to 400 then 1000. I took the upgrade and she told me it would take 5 minutes and I would then see the speed increase. Before the upgrade I had 7 downstream bonded channels. There are now 24 downstream bonded but no increase in speed. Now the speed is Anywhere from 150-230. I have restarted the modem several times and also unplugged it for 5 minutes and still same speed.
