[HSI] Netgear CM600 Amber Light

I'm in the St. Louis area and I replaced my Motorola SB6141 with a Netgear CM600. Called Charter and had it provisioned in just a few minutes with no problems, in fact my down speeds were immediately much more zippy, but we got an amber light on the upstream, so she scheduled and sent out a tech because my upstream signal also looked weak. The tech arrived, checked my signals, replaced my cable from the wall to my modem, said he wouldn't check the modem because it was customer owned (btw, Charter is using the "customer owned" equipment as an out as much as possible lately; the previous time I had an issue, Charter wouldn't even send a tech because my modem was customer owned. So be forewarned.) Diving into the manual: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/CM600/CM600_Comcast_UM_4Aug2015.pdf So the manual's explanation on page 6 is that "one upstream channel is locked" The tech's explanation was that there was only one bond for upstream on Charter and hence the reason for the amber light. After that he left. I'm stuck with an amber light on my upstream. Has anyone else with a CM600 on Charter gotten the amber light on the upstream? Were you able to get it fixed? Thanks in advance.
