As of about 1:30PM CDT on 10/2 I've been experiencing significant packet loss to the internet (such as pinging google.com) and can reproduce packet loss to my first Charter hop (96.34.52.28) with a direct connected PC. I was told yesterday that there was some kind of "maintenance in my area" and to wait to see if it clears up by today. Unfortunately it didn't.
After talking to tech support 3 times I finally got to someone that looked at the problem holistically and established there is an interference problem in the upstream which is affecting my entire area and they have escalated to internal network support to research. In the off chance someone from my area stumbles across this and wonders why your internet is barely usable today, this is why.
I have no idea of the affected subscriber footprint.
