Hello,
My parents live in Crisfield, MD and Charter is really the only option available besides DSL or Satellite. Rergardless, they have had a tech out multiple times and Charter keeps telling them they just have to put up with the terrible situation as there is nothing they can do. They are still paying full price.
I ran pingtest.net and they have 55-60% packet loss. Pinging charter at 24.241.27.57 returns less than 1ms return time with 0% packet loss. Anything beyond charters IP's results in 500-700ms returns with 50-60% packetloss, alot of time outs as well. Pingplotter shows the same data.
Her down and up is hovering around .2/.3
I have tested the modem on every outlet in the house just to make sure the outlet wasn't the problem.
I have connected the modem directly to the line coming into the house, was the same pings/packetloss.
Wireless/wired has the same connection issues.
Charter has:
- replaced the modem twice.
- replaced one of the cable lines in the house and charged them
- "Theres nothing we can do since its probably outside the house"
- "Theres an outtage in your area, that will resolve it"... funny cause we didnt have an outage, just speeds on par wth dialup.
Anything else I can do? I told my mom that if the Tech doesn't fix the issue today when they come out or at least give some answers, then she needs to call and either get alot off of the bill or switch to DSL. At this point DSL would be a vast improvement.
