So I finally talked Charter in to dropping a line down our road last month to hook up services. We signed up for all 3 services. Since they hooked us up our speeds are on par but we get terrible latency spikes often. I called Charter about this once and they said the speeds are where they should be and it is something with computer (even though i told them its not and that it happens on all devices). That was that and I decided to live with it as the speeds are 100x better than what DSL provided and Charter didn't want to help.
So on to the problem today. This morning (around 10am) I noticed the yellow "!" over the wireless signal. It went away in a few minutes. Then later this afternoon It happen again. I waited a while and it never came back on so I reset the modem. Still nothing. I noticed the status lights were acting weird. They were solid green, flashing green, orange, flashing orange, and sometimes not on at all. They seemed to be doing what they wanted every 15 seconds to 1 minute or so. Also the phone line status light was off and never turning on (the phones stopped working when this all started but the cable TV still works fine).
I call Charter and tell them what happen, she does no troubleshooting besides telling me to power cycle and sets up an appointment for Wednesday. At this point I am not happy as I work from home and the phone and internet is down until Wednesday.
I decide to pull up the modems page and see if I could find anything out of the ordinary. I have the "RF Parameters", "DOCSIS(CM) Events", and "PacketCable(MTA) Events" if needed.
So I call up Charter again and tell the guy that i would like him to try and troubleshoot a bit with me. He tells me he is getting some signals from my modem but cant do anything. I tell him I have the even logs and all that and he tell me no "those are for the router not the modem"......? He didn't even want to hear what it said or anything.
Any thoughts at all of what is going on?
