Our modem on a business account occasionally (once a month or so) goes down for the count. A modem power recycle ALWAYS corrects the problem but many times we are without VOIP phone service, ATM, Jukebox downloads, and WIFI. This SMC modem has been reported by others to be troublesome. Is there anyway to force Charter to replace this modem with another brand? They did push a firmware update several months ago which reduced the frequency of this issue from about once a day to about once a month but it seems like when there is a problem, this modem cannot recover without manual intervention. My residential Charter internet with DPC3216 modem never has this problem. Both accounts are UPS powered.
