I have a home business and limited options for ISP plan...I'm looking to goto charter internet plus (only option in my area from charter) versus their Essentials 30 plan looks to deliver roughly same speeds but $30/month cheaper if i go the residential plan route. I have internet and home phone thru AT&T and will be getting rid of the phone alltogether, just use my cell and google voice #. AT&T,my current provider has said that i'm located far from their towers and my location is "far off on the loop" causing really slow speeds. tests show 2.75mb/s download .37mb/s upload I've tested these several times at different point of the day and these numbers are pretty accurate any advantages to going with a business plan from an ISP versus residential plan? my business is just 2 people in home office using wifi, with no plans to add lots of staff. I'm located in the city but an unincorporated area. Will charter be on the same tower or is it cable? Is there a way to have an ISP run a test before i signup testing my location to give a rough idea of download/upload speed? I understand that modem/router can affect download and upload speeds, they'll be providing my with a modem that comes in the plan, to get the most from my system would it be better to buy my own modem as well as a fast router as I'll be running wifi thru my house? If I should consider purchasing better equipment, any recommendations and links to products that can help optimize my speed. right now, my business is suffering because of the slow download and upload, so I'm willing to pay more for results to break this bottle neck thanks for any advice and help!
