So I picked up a TiVo Roamio last week, and I've had some problems off and on with signal strength and channels not tuning in at times. Twice Charter has "cleaned up the signal" remotely and got everything working again, but both times that lasted less than a day. A TiVo rep also told me bad cabling can be a problem, so today I unhooked my tuning adapter and wired the cable directly from the wall into the Roamio. That bypassed the splitter and two short cables I recently purchased to make that connection to the adapter and the Roamio from the splitter - the cables are RG6, but seem of lesser quality than the cabling in the rest of my house. Now everything is tuning properly and my signal numbers in the TiVo diagnostics screens all look much better. I plan to purchase some new cables and re-attach the tuning adapter, but as I flip through all of my channels, I can't find anything that doesn't tune in due to not having the tuning adapter hooked up. Do SDV channels come and go? Is it possible that they would tune in at times without the adapter hooked up? How do I know which channels in my area are SDV? At the moment, it doesn't appear I would even need the tuning adapter. Thanks for any help.
