[CATV] DVR Tuners - Incompatible Channels?

This just started a couple of weeks ago. Since they also rolled out HD Auto Tune here (Florissant MO) around that time, I suspect they're related. Has anyone else seen this: Suppose I have one tuner on my DVR (let's call it Tuner A) tuned to channel 11. I switch to Tuner B and go to channel 127. When I go back to tuner A, the screen is blank (usually) or frozen. If I press "Play", the bar comes up, but time doesn't advance. If Tuner A is recording, the recording after that point is unwatchable. Channels 11 & 127 are just examples. Not all channels do this, but there are apparently two distinct groups. If both tuners are tuned to the same "group", everything is OK. If one tuner is tuned to a channel from one group and the other is on a channel from the other group, then the one changed least recently is blank. They're not "bunched together" either: 125, 129 and 130 are in the same group with 127 (let's call this group B). 126 and 128 are in the group with 11 (group A). From what I can tell, the HD channels are all in group A (including the HD-equivalents of the ones on group B). You might ask, "Why not just watch everything in HD?" Three reasons: (a) the fast-forward/rewind performance on HD channels is pitiful; (b) it doesn't "buffer up" nearly as much time on HD channels (I'll often come in and rewind an hour or more to see if there was anything interesting on); (c) I don't have enough space left to record everything in HD. Consequently, I have HD Auto Tune turned off (that may be the reason that no one else seems to have noticed this problem, although it started about a week before they announced HD Auto Tune). It happens on both of my DVRs, one of which I've only had for a week (in fact, I got the second DVR partly to see if it would fix the problem). Both are Motorola; I can write down the model numbers if it will help. I can also make a list of which channels are in which groups. Charter phone support has been no help. Any ideas?
