OK, first off, I couldn't keep my old modem, and I was forced into using the ARRIS.
ARRIS stats:
ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 / PacketCable 1.5 Touchstone Telephony Modem
HW_REV: 5
VENDOR: Arris Interactive, L.L.C.
BOOTR: 2.3.1
SW_REV: 7.10.145
MODEL: TM902A
Tech came out, disconnected old phone service from box outside (could have done that myself).
Next step, disconnect my poor ZOOM modem for the ARRIS unit (ZOOM would show channel bonding status via a blue LED, this one don't show anything different that I can see... however, looking online at the manual, green LED = channel bonding)
Hook up phone line to jack via jack splitter.
Provision phone.
Provision internet.
Phone works, net didn't.
Tech called charter, they told them to call someone else at charter, who told them to call someone else at charter to actually provision modem.
Now I am online, and phone works.
I have to ask again, just why isn't self-install a option, tech didn't do anything special. Just used one of these [att=1] and that was pretty much it.
There was no manual included in the box for the ARRIS.
Total install time was about 1 hour + because of the waiting on the phone the tech had to do.
