[TWC] Timewarner cable, Spectrum, Charter Ubee modem issues.

Hey guys, I have a Ubee modem, that was initially acquired through timewarner. Now its 'whatever the hell' and im just over here getting the short end of the stick. Its spectrum now but i cant get spectrum prices. I get twc prices. Amazing these companies get away with these type of tactics. Anyhow. My modem is refusing to let me port forward. In the port forwarding section, after i enter a start and end port, it gives me an error saying "Warning. Value is not a valid port." As if this garbage modem would know what a valid port is. Has anyone seen this? Is it a software glitch? Or does the firewall somehow definitively stop the modem from forwarding certain ports. I do not know the model number off hand, but honestly if you've heard of this issue, or ubee in general, all of the modem UI's are comparable so assume its what you already know.

[BHN] You may have been charged for WiFi activation?

I received a letter in the mail a couple days ago with the word important notice and the letter said I may have been charge a WiFi activation fee which I shouldn't have. I will get a credit if needed. I find this sad that no one can actually look up my account before sending me a letter. You all should know if you charge someone for something no matter if it was a mistake or not. What the point of sending letters out if you don't know? Find out if I was charge then send the letter. LOL $64.99 a month for 100mbit I am not complaining.

Just a couple of general thoughts on the Spectrum merger so far

$

If I understand the current status of the merger correctly, the "Better For Customers" and "World Class Service" advertising they are blanketing the airwaves with has resulted in nothing but higher costs, less content, worse equipment, fewer support options, and absolutely NO apparent or at all visible progress towards merging the formerly separate companies' carriage and streaming agreements. Now THAT would be better for customers. Sadly though, that appears to be quite a bit lower on Spectrum's priority list...quite a bit lower than executive level profits it seems. Mr. Rutledge said he expected higher churn during the transition period. He's right, and if I had any options at all I'd go elsewhere myself. I only wish there would be enough "churn" to make those at the top finally give a tiny bit of attention to the paying customers and not just to lining their pockets with our money. Oh wait...there is something that has actually remained the same through the merger...the answers by the moderators on the old TWC Community forums...(and frankly, I'm amazed that they haven't shut that down yet) "We have no information about that at this time." New company, same tired old song. Just one small example...how about the access to Watch TCM that is available to Charter Spectrum customers but not TWC Spectrum customers??? We've been waiting years for that access, and it looks as though we'll be waiting years more. So I guess that, at least as far as customers are concerned, we are still in three separate and unequal companies...just paying more and getting less for our money. Gee, thanks a lot. :uhh: :(

[CATV] basic service

Does Charter no longer offer basic service? I have an old pdf from 2014 that lists each service(basic, expanded, silver, etc.) and it says basic is $26.99/month but I can't find anything on Charter's site about basic service. Thanks

New ad mockery "Charter, redefining what a cable company can be"

The arrogance of the executives at Charter is nothing less than amazing. Their contempt for the customer is so easy to see, their new TV ad shows this clearly. The commercial seems to be telling customers that somehow Charter is supposed to be redefining cable companies in a positive way? LOL That's rich...but I suppose not as rich as their current CEO Tom "helicopter" Rutledge is. :uhh:

[TWC] Modem Event Log

Can somebody explain what these mean? The modem is Motorola MG7310 with firmware 7310-5.7.1.16. I've moved to a brand new, used, home and the coax from the wall to the street is new. I painstakingly switched out the coax in the wall because a Spectrum (TWC) guy said there was noise in the line, but everything from street to home was fine. I still get the constant dropped connections every day. I've tried using Google DNS servers as was suggested by a friend, but it seemed to make things worse. There is a Spectrum supplied splitter in the attic with one coax going to cable tv and the other going to cable modem. 1) SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/... The phone light on the modem shows OK, but there is no dial tone in St. Petersburg ZIP 33713-9036 The Tel1 light on the modem is now off. I hope that indicates service is being done.

[BHN] Can't "forget" BHN Secure network

$

This has been driving me insane and I'm not sure what else I can do. Years ago I installed the BHTV app and the profile/certificate for the BHN Secure wifi network on my iPhone. It seemed like a good idea at the time but I quickly got tired of it constantly connecting while driving around resulting in poor connections while listening to streaming audio and I was able to get rid of it. I have since gotten a new iPhone and I'm assuming as part of the restore the thing has come back. In an effort to get rid of it again I have done the following in a different order many times: 1. Reinstalled BHTV app and reinstalled the BHN Secure profile 2. Deleted the profile 3. Deleted the BHTV app 4. Reset the iPhone network settings I also tried creating my own BHN Secure wifi network, connected to that and was able to forget it... but the actual one still connects anyway. In any normal case resetting the network settings is enough to clear anything out but as soon as the phone restarts BHN Secure immediately reconnects and shows the "Bright House Networks" profile name below it, despite the fact the profile is deleted and there are no other profiles installed (at least none that are visible). During the network reset every other wifi network is forgotten as are my OpenVPN profiles so the network reset is working. The phone is now prompting me for my BHN login whenever it sees the network, which is worse than it actually connecting because I get a popup every time. There is no "forget this network" option and turning off the "auto join" setting does nothing. Does anyone know how can I get rid of this without doing a complete iPhone reset and starting fresh? I miss Gary. I'm not even going to attempt to call the Spectrum phone support monkeys about this. Thanks

[HSI] Is it normal for bad signals cause cable modem's pings to go up?

Hello. Do bad cable signals cause higher pings (ms in the hundreds) when pinging their cable modems (192.168.100.1) locally? Do I assume that this is normal? Does it have a CPU usage or something to watch? Thank you in advance. :)

[HSI] 100M the new base speed in LA?

This flyer was in the LA Times this morning. This article also mentions that 100Mb is the new base speed here: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-charter-ceo-20160920-snap-story.html I just rebooted my modem here in Pasadena and am still at 60/5. Wonder if everyone will get the bump soon?

[Speed Issues] Why are the customers who paid for the merger getting less speed

$

It seems legacy Charter customers don't have anywhere near the speeds of a bunch of the TWC/Brighthouse folks. Legacy Charter customers still have the 100/5 and 60/5 offerings they've had for years now while the new customers get 300/20. I am going to guess that it is due to the other ISPs being forward-thinking enough to have the equipment already installed for such offerings, and Charter is not willing to do what is necessary to get everyone else up to that level?

[HSI] Severe issues requiring multiple daily modem power cycling

$

For the past month or more we have been experiencing severe problems with our high speed internet. We subscribe to the 50/5 speed tier. I find that if I power cycle the cable modem (Arris SB6141) that it will usually help with the problem for a while, but I general have to do this a few times each day. Of note, about year ago a TWC tech came by and grounded the demarcation box outside our house, replaces the splitters and replaced the connectors on all cables at the box, as well as inside house where they connected to the cable modem, and also three Cisco cable TV boxes. We've lived here almost twelve years now, and the line that runs from the utility pole to our house has not been replaced during that time. Here are the results of my tests: CONFIGURATION Motorola/Arris SB6141 -> Apple Time Capsule 802.11ac LOCATION Durham, NC 27701 TRACEROUTE traceroute to dslreports.com (64.91.255.98), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 10.0.1.1 (10.0.1.1) 12.819 ms 10.227 ms 10.104 ms 2 * * * 3 cpe-174-111-104-233.triad.res.rr.com (174.111.104.233) 37.173 ms 31.012 ms 39.187 ms 4 cpe-024-025-062-178.ec.res.rr.com (24.25.62.178) 20.557 ms 20.491 ms 17.357 ms 5 24.93.67.202 (24.93.67.202) 25.814 ms be31.chrcnctr01r.southeast.rr.com (24.93.64.186) 75.328 ms 24.93.67.202 (24.93.67.202) 26.565 ms 6 bu-ether14.atlngamq46w-bcr00.tbone.rr.com (66.109.6.82) 44.157 ms 34.878 ms 32.527 ms 7 0.ae2.pr0.atl20.tbone.rr.com (107.14.19.11) 85.528 ms 100.183 ms 0.ae0.pr0.atl20.tbone.rr.com (66.109.6.171) 38.139 ms 8 be7843.ccr41.atl04.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.12.109) 29.098 ms 37.961 ms 31.854 ms 9 * be2847.ccr41.atl01.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.6.101) 38.126 ms be2848.ccr42.atl01.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.6.117) 32.834 ms 10 be2735.ccr41.ord01.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.5.81) 64.303 ms 78.080 ms 66.213 ms 11 be2765.ccr41.ord03.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.45.18) 61.601 ms be2766.ccr41.ord03.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.46.178) 60.499 ms 72.859 ms 12 be2616.rcr11.b002281-5.ord03.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.30.90) 63.710 ms be2409.rcr11.b002281-5.ord03.atlas.cogentco.com (154.54.29.66) 63.468 ms 61.514 ms 13 * * * 14 lw-dc3-core2-te8-16.rtr.liquidweb.com (209.59.157.229) 75.513 ms 86.199 ms 73.483 ms 15 lw-dc3-dist15-po6.rtr.liquidweb.com (69.167.128.205) 74.346 ms 76.410 ms lw-dc3-dist16-po6.rtr.liquidweb.com (69.167.128.95) 73.444 ms 16 www.dslreports.com (64.91.255.98) 80.813 ms 70.988 ms 66.267 ms JITTER/PING TEST https://www.dslreports.com/testhistory/1869128/52a18 7/2/2017 5:56:52PM calculating grade 7/2/2017 5:57:14PM grade D 7/2/2017 5:57:44PM grade C 7/2/2017 5:58:14PM grade C SPEED TEST http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/10177104 SIGNAL LEVELS Downstream Bonding Channel Value Channel ID 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Frequency 507000000 Hz 513000000 Hz 519000000 Hz 525000000 Hz 531000000 Hz 537000000 Hz 543000000 Hz 549000000 Hz Signal to Noise Ratio 38 dB 39 dB 38 dB 38 dB 39 dB 38 dB 38 dB 39 dB Downstream Modulation QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 QAM256 Power Level The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. [Speed Issues] Recent Decrease in Upload Speed for 300/20 Service? -North Texas

$

This may be a local issue, but I noticed that my upload speed decreased from the usual 20 Mbits+ to now 10-11 Mbits. Download speeds are still fine (340 Mbits+). I am in the Wylie (75098) area. Any other 300/20 subscribers seeing the same? For the record.....SB6183 modem, modem config file looks good, modem bonding (16/4) looks good, power levels and SNRs all look good. Already did the usual reboot dance with the modem. Speed tests for the last year (before now) were all consistently good (300/20). Lower upload speed is also consistent across multiple speed tests.

[HSI] erratic performance

i moved from chicago to rural tennessee smoky mountain area 6 months ago, and the internet performance is ok at best in the new location. most of the time performance, its acceptable, but on occasion everything comes to a crawl. requesting webpages sometimes takes a long time, speed tests are alway consistent at around 60 to 68 up and 4 to 6 down, but when the issues are popping up,and i run a speedtest,it always seems to fluctuating all over the place during the upload part of the test while taking a long time to complete, but i get the same speed results. (yes i have removed my home network from the equation while doing some of the tests). well its to the point that its annoying with the slow performance and id like to see if i can get them to do something.i did look into the connection and surprisingly, for a rural area i have 16 bonded channels, but only 1 channel is bonded for the upstream. back in chicago on wide open west i had 4 upstream channels, and when i had comcast (what an awful company) after they finally upgraded out neighborhood, i had 3 upstream channels. since i have no formal training my knowledge is limited on what can be the issue. that's where everything seems to hang is when requesting a new webpage , and it seems to be during peak times when im assuming the whole neighborhood on the internet. i have posted a screenshot of the modem page. just curious if 1 upload channel is normal for a rural area before i call and cry about this and my ever increasing bill.
