Hello,
I have been having an issue for about two weeks now and getting a bit frustrated by the lack of progress. I am hoping that by posting here I will at the very least end up with some advice on how to proceed.
I have Charter internet in CT and use it mostly to game. As of two weeks ago my latency playing a certain game has gone up significantly (from 30ms average to 300 ms average). I checked all my connections locally and ran a speed test. I get about 80mb/s down 5mb/s up to Charter's hub in Oxford, MA. I ran a pathping and tracert (several at this point) to the game server that i connect to and i see that my latency increases significantly after leaving Charter's network and going onto a level3.net domain in NewYork. I tried logging in to a different server in a different LAN center and my latency issues went away, however this is not a viable option as it would be quite expensive for me and my friends to move to another server permanently.
I opened a ticket with the game company, followed their steps and they determined that it is an issue outside of their control and that my ISP will have to work with Level3 to resolve the issue.
I contacted Charter and told them this and they insisted on sending a tech out to my house to check the lines. I did this, the tech told me i get excellent signal, no packet loss, everything is working fine and suggested that i call back in and tell the phone support again what the game company told me.
I contacted Charter again. This was a miserable experience. The girl on the phone didnt understand what i was trying to tell her and (i think) to get me off the phone she setup another service call. However, she told me that the tech would not actually come to my house, but would instead call me and then they could get in touch with Level3. This sounded like BS, but i went with it. Well, today a tech showed up at my house and then left because i was at work. I have thought about calling back in to support but am kind of at my wits end here. I pay for Ultra-100 for gaming and would like the best experience possible.
So, i guess my questions are:
1)is there anything i can do to address this issue?
2)can anyone confirm that my suspicions are correct or am i completely in left field?
3)am i just stuck with the issue and should get used to the latency?
any help is appreciated. i have attached a recent tracert and pathping.
