I fought with Brighthouse throttling internet speeds for years. Finally, they stopped throttling. But now that Spectrum has taken over Brighthouse, the throttling and slow speeds have returned. Here is how it works. When you boot your cable modem, you get your high speeds (200 for example). When you start using your internet connection, you continue to get high speeds UNTIL you start using your connection a lot and using up a lot of bandwidth - such as when downloading a movie. Then, they throttle your speed, typically by changing your DNS to a server thousands of miles away instead of your local server. Your speed will then remain at less than 10% of the speed you are paying for until you completely power down your modem and restart. There should be a class action suit about this. I pay $180 a month for high speed internet and basic cable TV. In return.. I get painfully slow internet and a load of garbage TV. That comes to $2160 per year for Spectrum service. That is grand larceny!
