we recently switch from at&t to charter / spectrum for cable tv, phone, and "broadband" internet service. we got a lower rate and (we thought) faster, more reliable broadband service. what a horrible mistake. both the cable TV and Internet service are simply cancer. I trade currency for a living in international markets meaning my isp has to be ultra reliable at odd hours, unexpected outages, even for a few min, can cost me tens of thousands or more. forget that the cable TV and dvr service is intermittent at best, the Internet service is about one third of the advertised speed upload and download, which is still faster than at&t, but spectrum commercials offering 60mbps down are blatantly false advertising, and that's not even close to the biggest problem. several times each month for the past two months, without warning or explanation spectrum will simply turn off Internet service in our area. these outages which they call "routine service interruptions" last anywhere from five or six hours to a day or more. their tech support could not be more ignorant and will repeatedly suggest that you power cycle their modem regardless of how high your complaint is escalated. they never have any idea or estimate as to when service might be restored and if it has so much as drizzled in the past week they will try to blame these outages on weather. the third or fourth time these expensive (for me) service outages happene d I finally got hold of an honest rep who admitted the "routine" service interruptions were intentional but she had only been told it had something to do with maintenance. if your broadband connection is mission critical for your enterprise or even if you just want reliable service at home backed by honest tech reps I suggest you run as far and as fast as you can away from spectrum service of any kind. I am looking into suing them for the losses I have incurred due to these false outages and the lies concerning them and after learning of my experience an attorney friend has been interviewing both commercial and residential spectrum customers with a view towards class action litigation. if you value your time, your money, or your sanity do under any circumstances buy services from this joke of a company.
