OK, this is the weirdest issue ever... I went back to Charter from UVerse service (I'm in a legacy Charter area in Michigan) ever since switching I've noticed a problem on Charters network. Keep in mind all my tests are performed directly plugged in to the Charter modem to bypass my network. Basically when I'm web browsing a lot of times the website with hang and Crome will just say connecting on the bottom if I hit refresh the site will come up fine. I'm not getting any TCP packet loss and ICMP pings are working fine. The singal levels on the cable modem are OK and look very good... I can only assume the problem is upstream in the Charter network and the reason UDP packets are impacted is because UDP/DNS doesn't retransmit. I can only assume UDP packets are being dropped in the Charter network someplace. I kept my DSL hooked up and if I plug in to that I don't have the issue at all. Has anyone out there seen an issue like this and what was the problem? Did Charter fix it?
