Almost every day lately (wasn't always this way) our internet slows to a crawl.
Charter says there is no problems w/ the line going to the modem and apparently that is where all responsibilities stop. Somewhat understood.
BUT I need to get this thing purring along.
Using the Buffalo router interface when one of these "black" periods occur and I test the connection it will fail at acquiring DHCP.
Sometimes it will go past this point to acquiring an address (looking for the buffalo server I suspect).
sometimes there is success, sometimes hangs into a "time out" mode.
I need some advice in finding the root cause.
Unplugging and plugging the modem back in usually works but this shouldn't be a daily ritual.
Worst part it occurs at the time of day we most need it (internet),
Tonight I did a full reset of the router but didn't get a chance to see if it will "handshake" w/ the modem. Did manage to hit "connect" before leaving work.
Wonder what kind of surprise awaits me tomorrow morning..
We left earthlink a month ago for this and am now regretting it, though earthlink was no winner either. At least I had zero hardware issues.
