When I returned my Charter modem to my local office this week, I was told that customers who own their own modems will be notified by letter (in the coming months) that their modems are no loner going to be allowed on the Charter network. This will also include folks who are in grandfathered plans. I personally think they are full of crap, but I wanted all of those folks who own their own modems to be ready for this as a possibility in the near future. I guess the $80 I just shelled out for a new modem was a complete waste. It could just be that Charter offices are oblivious to what phone CSR's are saying on behalf of the corporation. I am going to fight this if it does happen as I was just told 2 weeks ago I could use my own modem. My personal modem was provisioned over a week ago with no issues. This company is going down hill fast.
