I just got an email saying that Charter was instituting HD Auto Tune in my area (San Luis Obispo area, CA). Supposedly, if you enter a regular standard channel into the remote, and there is an HD channel for that same channel/network, the TV will automatically switch you to the HD channel.
But here's the question -- some of our HD channels are the East Coast feed while the SD channel is the West Coast feed. So here's a scenario: I want to watch something that the TV Guide lists as 7pm (West Coast feed), but if I enter the SD channel, Auto Tune will switch me to the HD channel, which will be showing whatever show is on the East Coast feed.
Is that right?
There are multi-step instructions to disable Auto Tune, but I would be reluctant to do that for everything.
Any ideas? Or comments? or solutions?
